Oil for food or fuel
hemp farm: Cornish Oil

Panning for oil - at the farm

Cold pressing retains the essential fatty acids, proteins and flavour, where heat pressing breaks down the complex molecules.

Cold pressed oil is "live" in this sense and most valuable in terms of human consumption and well-being.

Older stocks of oil, or sub-quality oil is more suitable for varnishes, paints and of course lamp oil, bio-diesel and soap.

Hemp farm - Cornwall - circa 1995

Back in the 1990's, the Cornish hemp farm trial was underway.

As well as growing industrial hemp for processing research, hempseed was also processed, using the cold-press method.
